Chinese seated biscuit figure of a court official.
Kangxi (1662-1722).
With a tall green hat, holding a black tablet of rank, seated on a high back chair. The back of the chair has an aperture for the insertion of prayers, his robe decorated overall with a brilliant green glaze embellished with chrysanthemum flower heads in yellow and aubergine. The reverse with a sketched landscape.
Height: 9in. (22.8cm.).
Provenance: Previously, purchased from Ralph Chait Gallery; also with an old inventory number ‘548581’ etched in black ink to the rim of the base.
