Chinese Imari verte dish, Yongzheng, circa 1730, decorated in the centre with an elegant lady seated on the veranda of a pavilion playing a flute while a young boy attendant dances, with a fenghua (phoenix) outside in the fenced garden amongst peony issuing from rockwork; the rim with boughs of foliate peony and prunus, interspersed with four alternating ogee-shaped cartouches containing either a double gourd flask, scrolls and a ruyi-head sceptre, or an incense burner and beribboned books, the reverse with two sprays of peony in iron-red.

Diameter: 31.6cm. (12 ½ in.)

Condition: Good.

Provenance: From the collection of Olivia Vernon Mulholland (1902-1984). The Honorable Olivia Vernon Harcourt held the office of Woman of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1951 and was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1958 and Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1971.
