Chinese imari octagonal teapot and cover, mid-18th century, of baluster form with tapered waist and spreading foot, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze enamels and gilt with eight panels outlined in blue containing flowering boughs of peony and aster issuing from rockwork, the loop handle and straight spout with florets and cloud scrolls, the domed lid of octagonal form and surmounted by a gilt knop, decorated with eight further floral cartouches.
