Chinese famille verte dish, Shunzhi (circa 1650-60).
Decorated in the centre with a fenghua (phoenix) and a qilin in a garden setting within ruyi-shaped bands.
The cavetto with a band of diaper, the rim with foliate peony scrolls. The reverse with flower sprays and lappets to the base with a double footrim. Old Chinese collector's mark to base.
There is a similar famille verte dish in the British Museum with a phoenix and qilin in a fenced garden, Museum No. Franks.387.
