A Chinese Export Silver Box, circa 1890, the hinged lid embossed with cranes among irises, and the rest of the box plain. The box has a gilt interior and measures 13 x 8 x 4.7cm and weighs 270gm. Marked with WH for Wang Hing '宏兴‘, which was the largest retailer in China from the 1860s to the 1940s, and the most influential, working with over a hundred different silversmiths, this one being 文 ’Wen'.
