Chinese Export Porcelain Armorial Plate, Darcet or Webb.

Circa 1755.

The Chinese Export porcelain armorial plate with the unknown British cost of arms to the centre top of the rim with the remaining rim decorated in en grisaille and gold flowers and leaves.

The centre well with a sparse design of a bird on a rock with famille rose flowers issuing from the sides and the bird's mate flying above, its head turned in flight. To the side and above a large butterfly.

The service is illustrated in Howard, page 304, where the author mentions that as painted the arms do not exist, but if the sable and gules are transposed the arms are those for Darcet.

If the cross and eagle were sable the arms would be of Webb- a West Country family.

Tiny frit at 4 o'clock.
