Yongcheng Period
The Chinese Export porcelain "rouge de fer & gold" armorial tea bowl has a large coat of arms on one side and the depiction of two flowering plant stems on the reverse. The interior rim with a band of gilt scrollwork.
Dimensions: 3 3/8 inch diameter x 1 3/4 inches high.
Reference: Chinese Armorial Porcelain, David Sanctuary Howard, Page 294, (G3). The service was most likely made for Richard Baker, who purchased the estate of Orsett Hall, Essex about 1747. Four different services were made in this style and with these arms.
