Height: 13.9cm. (5 1/2 in.); height without cover: 12.5cm. (4 7/8in.)
Condition: Piece out of side of cover neatly reinserted and small area of chips filled and two small chips to white glaze on top rim of cover neatly filled.
Plum blossoms in the cold months of January and February, and is appreciated in various East Asian cultures as one of the early harbingers of spring. Paired here with cracked ice, a motif alluding to the thawing of winter frost, the jar’s symbolism is one of optimism and the promise of warmer months.
