Chinese Blue and White 19th Century Tulip Vase.

A Chinese blue and white tulip bulb vase made in the 19th century for export to Europe where this type was particularly popular in Europe especially the Netherlands.

The top is modelled and painted as a seed head.

Made at Jingdezhen although it is export ware and sometimes called tulip trees or tulipteers, although the latter usually refers more to a pagoda type tower.

Very good painting on a well potted vase. The painting is in the Kangxi style showing eight immortals, seven of them are on the five lobes and one on the neck, sometimes referred to as the stem or tower.  Many of this type were more likely to be painted with scrolling flowers.

The underside is typical with the circular pads and a four character Kangxi mark to the centre as an apocryphal mark.

The vases of this type were used for bulbs where one as placed on each of the holes and watered down the stem.
