A rare Chinese porcelain armorial cup and saucer, c. 1724, Yongzheng Period. Painted in famille verte enamels, with the arms of Sir John Frederick, Baronet of Westminster, London. The borders with twin arrangements of pavilions between flags, and fish, alternating with gilt shells, scrolls, willow and fungi. Within spearhead band and foliage borders.
Height of cup - 6 cm, 2 3/8”
Diameter of saucer - 12 cm, 4 6/8”.
Condition - Wear and fritting to the enamel - please see images for detail. Otherwise in perfect condition. No restoration.

Sir John Frederick was born in March 1678, and created a baronet in 1723. He was the son of Thomas Frederick, and Leonora, heiress of Charles Marescoe, and grandson of Sir John Frederick, who spent £5,000, rebuilding the Hall at Christ’s Hospital after the Great Fire of London. 
He was heavily involved as a promoter of the South Sea Company.
