A particularly rare example of a Chinese Glass Painting with exceptionally original fresh colouring.

Copying the example of a Watteau painting typical of the French School of the 18th century.

The clever strategy of the Hong Artists was to use Allegorical interest in the European to their advantage.

Copying with their distinctive skill and artistry whilst hardly encountering any European or their manners. Possibly made for the Swedish Market.

Provenance:
Swedish Private Collection.
English Private Collection.

Literature: See Carl Crossman China Trade for examples of 18th Century Reverse Mirror Paintings.

Condition: Excellent condition - Retaining the original brilliant colouring.
