An attractive Chelsea Derby coffee cup and saucer painted with a rare pattern in polychrome colours. The inside rim of the cup is decorated with very fine gilt dentil work and the rim is gilded. The plain loop handle is picked out in gilt and has gilt stripes across it. The exterior rim has painted puce scroll-work above a gold line, from this cascades a fan style decoration in the Adam style with purple bows and green swags of foliage. The saucer is decorated in the same style with an ornate grey urn in the centre with four scattered floral sprigs.
