ENGLAND, 1685/90

In oyster verneers of olive wood, with ovolo moulding and crossbanding. Retaining original bevel glass mirror plate.

In ‘The Dictionary of English Furniture: Volume Two’, Ralph Edwards illustrates a mirror in an ovolo-moulded frame, verneered with oyster pieces of walnut, dated circa 1685 (p.315, figure 12 – see image below). This mirror is in the collection of Streatham Castle, County Durham.
