To be exhibited at
BADA 2020For sale is this stunning Guild of Handicraft’s antique silver and enamel hand mirror by Charles Ashbee. The mirror is backed with a classic Guild of Handicraft peacock enamel. The bottom of the handle is inset with a blister pearl. The mirror is fully hallmarked for GofH Ltd, London, 1903. Until now, the only other known mirror to this design is on display at the Wilson Museum, Cheltenham Ref 1982.1118. This is a gem of a piece.
The enamel is recessed into the silver frame, no doubt to protect it and can be seen identically on the Cheltenham Museum mirror. Condition is excellent, the glass mirror itself is not original.
