A characterful late 19th Century Japanese Bronze Okimono of a fisherman signed Maruki.

From our collection of Japanese, Meiji-era (1868-1912) Okimono, this delightful Bronze depiction of a gleeful, elderly fisherman.

He wears the traditional clothing of a countryside fisherman from the 19th Century and has a woven basket on his back to put this catch in. His simple bamboo rod is raised high above his head as he excitedly grasps the fish on the end of the line. He stands on a naturalistic root-wood base.

Offered in fine condition as shown in the photographs. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information or to arrange a viewing.
