Magnificent late 19th Century French bronze figure of an impressive alert stag with beautiful autumnal, green. black. brown and orange patination and excellent hand finished surface detail; raised on an oval naturalistic base with integral stepped plinth. Signed Barye 1838, stamped F Barbedienne Fondeur and inset with the gold 'FB' seal.
The gold 'FB' seal signifies that this cast in considered to be of the finest quality and colour from the Barbedienne Foundry and was only awarded to a small number of exceptional casts from this prestigious foundry.
