Gold
Consisting of seventeen irregularly shaped, predominantly oval amethyst beads interspersed with gold links. The clasp is composed of cast gold openwork roundels with a border of filigree work, terminating in gold hook and eye fastening. Intact, some of the gold restored.
Amethyst was a particularly popular material during the Byzantine period.
