A Fine Quality Mid 19th Century Burr Walnut Pedestal
Desk Of Unusually Small Proportions Having Replaced
Gilt Tooled Leather To Crossbanded Top Above Nine
Well Figured Drawers Raised On Original Plinth Base
(With it's beautiful burr walnut veneers, excellent quality
throughout, including mahogany drawer linings, and its
unusually small but practical size this desk is perfect for
such a huge variety of settings. 19th century desks can
vary wildly in styles, sizes, finishes and quality and this is
right up there in the top bracket of all concerned. The brass
handles are relatively recent replacements but sit happily and
work extremely well in situ. The desk does of course come apart
into three sections (top and two pedestals) for both ease of
transport and getting into tight spots in small houses.)
