British Sailors Woolwork of Two Battleships, one Fully Dressed,
Circa 1870
The charming sailor's woolwork is well composed and depicts three Royal Navy Ships. In the middle ground is a First-Rate Battleship at anchor and Fully Dressed. In the background, there is a Royal Navy ship under steam which could be an East Indiaman converted fourth rate ship. In the foreground are a small paddle-wheel steamboat and two gigs.
