John Nixon (c.1750-1818).

Signed with monogram l.r., inscribed l.c: Brighton, numbered 112, pen and grey ink and watercolour over pencil.

18.4 x 13 cm; 7 ¼ x 5 1/8 inches.

Nixon is recorded as being in Brighton in 1784 and again in 1804 when he drew figures on the beach looking out to sea (Yale Center for British Art B1977.14.4200). He also drew Brighton Races.
