Attractive Heriz carpet.

Early Heriz carpets from north west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long lasting rugs. They have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs. The tribal characteristics of Heriz carpets give them the ability to blend in both contemporary and classic spaces.

This charming early 20th Heriz carpet has a creative overall drawing rather than traditional central medallion motif that is inspired by rare 19th century Kuba rugs from the Caucasus.  Being wider than other examples of similar length and slightly squarish in format, the drawing is well spaced. The attractive terracotta red field harmonizes the natural dyed vegetable colours that have aged nicely, framed by a wide blue border.

In very good preserved condition for every day use, still retaining its original fringes on both sides.

A timeless Heriz carpet with charm and character to blend in a wide variety of spaces.
