BADA Gift List - Under £1000Arts and Crafts Copper and Pewter Mirror of convex form by Hugh Wallis of Altrincham. An unusual mirror of convex form with patinated copper surround inset with pewter a design of stylised pewter roses. Unmarked. Excellent original condition. English circa 1910.
Hugh Wallis (1871-1943) was a coppersmith working in Altrincham, Cheshire, mostly making trays with distinctive pewter floral inlays and patterned edges. Hugh studied at the Herkomer Art School in Bushey, Herts and was exhibited at the Royal Academy 14 times and opened his Altrincham studio in 1900.
