An arts and crafts copper and enamel mantel clock

For sale is this large and rare arts and crafts copper and enamel mantel clock.   This design is typically attributed to George Walton of Glasgow.  My own research suggests it may be by Jesson Birkett & Co of Birmingham who had links to A E Jones, merging with that company in c 1905.  A similar clock, with very similar dial, was published in the Studio Year book 1907, page 174.  Irrespective of its attribution it is a classic arts and crafts design.  The patina is very good, the lid with dark chocolate colour, the front with similar patina though slightly more polished.  The enamels (which may be inserts of glass in fact) are a dark blue and when lit have a lovely play of peacock colours.

The back of the clock is shown in the images.  it has some residual whitish verdigris to the copper that I have chosen to leave as is.  The movement is period but may not be original to the clock.  Alternatively it is original but the back of the clock is missing a cover. The lid has four holes to it that may be missing rivets.  It seems to be the same as the only other example of the clock I can find so there is no indication of any attachment missing.  The holes do not detract at all from the appearance, but could be restored with faux rivets.

The clock is with a key, working and keeping excellent time with a very audible tick!  It requires winding every four days or so. I will guarantee for one year.

The clock overall is in excellent working condition and presents very well.
