An Art Nouveau grasshopper brooch, the realistically carved insect with a cabochon ruby-set eye, the wings in shaded green opalescent champlevé enamel encrusted with rose-cut diamonds, the tergum consisted of a pear-shaped cabochon opal and the finely engraved sternite flanked with rose-cut diamonds, all mounted in yellow gold and silver, with gold brooch fitting, measuring approximately 5.5 x 3 cm, circa 1900, gross weight 17.6 grams.
