This Art Deco rug is a design classic with its elegantly swerving black lines on an off-white background reminiscent of a zebra, hence the term 'zebra rug' that is often applied to these carpets. Like the slightly bigger example on our pages on this website (see https://www.bada.org/object/art-deco-rug-zebra-design ), it has been associated with the architect Oliver Hill, but we can find no evidence to support this.
Made in China, possibly Tientsin. Silky, well patinated wool on a cotton foundation, perfect condition
