A striking early 20th Century Art Deco patinated bronze figure of a beautiful dancer in a striking pose, both her arms outstretched balancing balls whilst stood on one leg, raised on a shaped variegated brown onyx base and signed Bouraine.

Bouraine Bronze

Marcel Andre Bouraine - French, 1886 to 1948 ~ Born in Pontoise in 1886. In the main he was self taught. His works capture an enigmatic realism of the period. He was was taken prisoner by the Germans during the 1914 - 1918 war and so interested his captors that they gave him many works to execute. He was interned in Switzerland where he produced many monuments, of which one was for Lausanne. He exhibited at all the main Paris Salons.
