Art Deco bronze figure ‘A L’Affut ‘by Theophile Francois Somme. A very fine bronze figure of a semi naked young amazon kneeling at the alert with bow in hand. Well cast and with fine hand chased details. The figure is signed to the rear Th. Somme Salon des Beaux Arts and stamped bronze . A superb example of Art Deco bronze figures. A similar piece is shown in Bermans Bronzes ref 1355 and titled ‘ After the shot.

Theophile Francois Somme Sculptor. Born in Nancy in 1871. He exhibited in Paris at the Salon of French Artists of which he was a member from 1899. In 1902 he received an Honorable Mention, in 1924, a Silver Medal, in 1925, a Gold Medal.
In 1937 he received a Gold Medal for the International Exhibition. He died in 1971.

Excellent original condition. Some age marks to the marble base and light wear to the patina on the skirt.

Base 22cm x 13 and height including base 19 cm.
