A rare Arita porcelain vase, Japan, circa 1670, Edo Period. Modelled after a Chinese Transitional Period ‘rolwagen’. Hand painted in underglaze blue, with a continuous scene of figures, one carrying a large banner, in a wind swept garden.
The rim painted with a band of lappets.
Height – 19 cm, 7 1/2”.
Diameter – 8 cm, 3 1/8”.
Condition – Chips to the rim. The base drilled – please see images for detail. No restoration.
