For sale is this incredible modern butter spade hallmarked for Liberty & Co, Birmingham, 1905. The design undoubtedly by Archibald Knox with clean modernist lines and a classic triskelion blue green enamel to the finial.
This butter knife or spade is a good size and gauge measuring 16.5 cm long and weighing 54 grams. In excellent original condition with some slight rubbing to the marks. It’s just a perfect piece!
This is the only known example of this design which will appear in Dr Stephen Martin’s forthcoming third edition of his book “Archibald Knox”.
