Victorian Silver Mounted Claret Jug 1858 John Figg of London.

An excellent antique Victorian Sterling Silver mounted Claret Jug. The glass body of the jug is of tapering circular bellied form and the glass is etched with trailing grapevines and foliate decoration.

The Silver mount has Bacchus masks on a matted background, interspersed with fruit and foliage and has a beaded border. The scroll handle is engraved with fruit and foliage to complement the mount.The jug is in excellent crisp condition.

The hinged lid has a lion rampant thumb-piece holding a shield which is engraved with the crest of Admiral Thomas Mangles Martin.
