Tibetan tsuktruk dating to the late 19th century.
It is worked in four narrow strips of around 18 cm width which have been assembled to form the complete piece.
It is woven in wool on a wool foundation. The dye is derived from the madder root providing a warm, saturated red which is nicely abrashed, with slight variations in the red. This gives the tsuktruk a feel of calm simplicity.
It can be used as a beautiful work of textile art on the wall as well as on the floor.
