Classical antique Tabriz carpet with beautiful natural dyes, muted tones and an elegant central medallion design. The weave is very fine and the soft wool pile has been cut close and is in good order throughout.  The tones are a mixture of muted orange/apricot tones, with greys and varying shades of green.  The vases in the main background field are well drawn and the detailing in the corner spandrels are well executed too.   Woven around 1890-1900 in the north of Persia in the city of Tabriz, this city has always been known for weaving classical elegant carpets and rugs.  If you look at the photos of the back of the carpet you can see how much the dyes have mellowed on this carpet.  In good condition with a tight weave and a high wool pile all over. It has been professionally washed by ourselves and it is ready to be shown in situ or shipped worldwide.

Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration. Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire, & all over the UK by appointment.  We love to travel, and have been doing so since the early 90's having visited customers in Scotland, Ireland, France and Belgium helping them find the ideal carpet for their home.  Request a home visit or email us if we can help you further.
