A very beautiful antique Tabriz carpet with beautiful pale colours, the soft blue being especially pleasing on the eye. Muted soft red/peach tones and a classical refined medallion design, Tabriz is known for weaving some of the finest town carpets in the late 19th century.  This piece dates from 1880-1890 as into the 20th century more chemical dyes were produced and colours became stronger again.  A really elegant antique carpet in wonderful honest original condition.  It would sit beautifully in a drawing room, dining room or entrance hall.  With the sturdy underlay we supply with any of our rugs it helps preserve antique carpets and limit wear and damage.  It is often hard to remember this Persian classical carpet has been around and used on the floor for over 130 years!

Tabriz carpets from Northwest Persia are distinguished by their excellent weave and by their remarkable adherence to the classical traditions of Persian rug design, but they cannot be distinguished by any particular pattern or by their coloration. Tabriz rugs offer classical medallion designs and a host of allover patterns as well in every color imaginable, from brilliant rich tones to soft pastels.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment.  Please request a home visit to see this elegant Tabriz carpet in-situ.
