This antique Staffordshire pottery bocage type figure group in pearlware is known as PERSUASION and would have been produced at the beginning of the 19th century in Staffordshire.
Dated: 1820.
The rather demure female figure is rather contently thinking about the wonderful offer her partner has made to her as he profers a gold ring.
A dog indifferently looks into the distance, unaware of the romantic drama unfolding. The figures are exceptionally and crisply modeled and colored, attributed to " The Patriotic Group" the bocage on this piece is especially spectacular.
Dimensions: 8.5 inches high.
Current Condition: Two leaves ,brolley handle restored, and some enamels retouched.
Literature: Myrna Schkolne in her book People,Passion,Pastimes and Pleasures Staffordshire figures c1810-35 illustrates a similar figure in Chapter 4 titled Courtship.
