Beautiful antique Sivas carpet woven in central Anatolia, wonderful dye change throughout the carpet where different dyes have been used and faded over the years.  With a cotton foundation it allows for a finer weave compared to other Turkish carpets such as Oushak or Ushak.  The design is classical and Persian in influence, a lattice design of vines scrolling around delightful floral motifs.  In brilliant original condition the pile is full and high with no holes or damage. There are no areas of reweave and professionally washed by ourselves it is ready to be used.

Sivas carpets were often commissioned for the Western market, using elegant curvilinear designs from Persian rugs and intricate floral motifs combined with wide borders with repeating cartouche designs.  This design variation can also be seen on Tabriz carpets, a wonderful muted carpet that have a lot of decorative appeal and are ideal to furnish around.  Generally their palette is very soft and the wool used of good quality and soft under foot.

Please request a home visit to see this beautiful antique Sivas carpet in situ to see if it works with your interior.  We travel all over the UK showing hundreds of our carpets and rugs in situ and we would love to help you.
