Antique Silver George III Salver made by John Hutson of London in 1786. The salver is of rectangular form and stands on four shaped moulded feet. It is beautifully engraved with a border of leaves and grapes and catouches containing flowers. The salver is of a very unusual shape and the condition and decoration are of the highest quality-a very fine piece indeed.
The centre is engraved with the crest of Hobson, a griffin in segreant in beak a key. It is entered in Fairbain's book of crests and is shown on p167 no 13. It is also engraved in a small oval cartouche above the crest ‘J Prendergast to Mrs M Hobson 1794’ a charming feature.
