A very rare Antique Silver George III Double Compartment Snuff Box made by Thomas Phipps and Edward Robinson of London. The large snuff box which opens up from both sides still retains its original gilt interior and each compartment is engraved with the original eighteenth century owners initials. The box still has evidence of being gilded at one time on the outside but the majority of this has now gone. The box is very nicely hallmarked to the base of the interior and correctly part marked on the two lids. A lovely unusual box by the finest box makers of the period.
