As near to being in perfect condition as an antique rug can be! This is an exquisite fine Serapi rug of the highest order, very rare to find one in perfect pile, with no repairs and this rare design. The rare amount of natural ivory wool in the main diamond medallion is something you never see, usually this is used in the four corner spandrels, instead the rich reds have been used instead. So it really is a colour reversal used by the weaver! The scrolling vine border design with pendent flowers, the buds almost look like faces on the vines.
A wonderful antique rug, full of charm and depth of colour. Purchased from a private collector, used on the floor for many many years but very much loved and looked after. It is ready to be used again for another 100 years.
