A lovely open floral design on this classical Persian carpet from Arak in Persia, which was once the capital. This is not an American Sarouk washed rug which were dyed deep raspberry red for the American market in the early 20th century.    The finest of the modern Sarouk rugs comes from the small town of Ghiassabad. These town rugs and carpets were commissioned for the western market around the beginning of the 20th Century and always had scrolling vines and floral motifs woven in soft colours.

Woven with beautiful vegetable dyes. Town carpets from this region always display intricate floral designs with vines and central medallions.  The condition of this carpet is very good indeed, with a lush silky wool pile throughout.  We have professionally washed this carpet  and it is ready for use on the floor.  Our excellent underlay would also add great strength to it and aid is longevity.
