Vibrancy and beautiful geometric motifs make for a brilliant antique Persian Heriz rug, circa 1900-1910.  We love the sandy yellow border on this rug with stylised leaves and cut open flowers.  The terracotta brick red tones combined with the greens and blues are the best combination on an antique oriental rug. You may see on the images that we see some lighter areas of colour which often can be mistaken for wear or colour run.  On a rug of this period and weaving origin the dyes are all natural and this change in colour is known as 'Abrash' dye change.  It adds wonderful character and appeal modern rugs crave to have.  Good symmetry too with the two eight-pointed stars in green and the central stylised latch-hook medallion.

Heriz carpets and rugs are famous for their durability and are one of the toughest antique rugs due to the good quality wool that was used. They are still extremely popular today, and can be used in an traditional home with exposed beams for example as well as a more modern home with contemporary furniture and paintings. Their warm colours and interesting designs make them an excellent compliment to many interiors.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Request a home visit to schedule a day and time for us to visit you with this rug and alternatives if you wish.  We love to travel around the country showing our stock of beautiful antique and contemporary rugs in customers homes to help you find the ideal one.
