Antique Heriz Rug.

2.60 x 1.85 m.

Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are exceptional in their class. Renowned for their geometric designs, durable construction, and creative use of vegetable-dyed colors, they are ideal long-lasting rugs distinguished by striking tribal motifs. In our experience, Heriz carpets are among the most versatile decorative weavings, seamlessly blending modern and traditional design elements in a room.

This remarkable early example features an expressive, all-over pattern instead of the conventional central medallion layout. It showcases graphic forms repeated across the field in soft vegetable-dyed colors such as denim and cornflower blue, indigo, and camel, set against a warm terracotta field and framed by an unusual light-tone border. The restrained, earthy color palette works to enhance the carpet’s balanced, spacious composition.

Retained in very good condition for everyday use, its colors have developed a characterful patina with age – rare in this small furnishing format.

A timeless carpet and a striking example of its kind, it adds personality and style to both classic and contemporary interiors.
