A beautiful antique Heriz rug from the late 19th century with an abundance of the rare green dye in the four corner spandrels.  A deep indigo blue border and elegant medallion design in the centre, the rich reds complete the rugs wonderful dye palette,  Wonderful large leaf designs and well proportioned this is a very attractive antique rug.

The condition of the rug is very good, with an excellent pile all over, cut finely and showing all the borders at both ends.  The rug does have one large old repair, located to the left of the central medallion in the main field.  It has been done exceptionally well a long time ago, with the colour match to the wool brilliantly done.  To be honest unless you look close enough you cannot see the old repair.  Please do view all the images of the rug included, we show a close up of the repair on the back and front.

Heriz carpets and rugs are famous for their durability and are one of the toughest antique rugs due to the good quality wool that was used. They are still extremely popular today, and can be used in an traditional home with exposed beams for example as well as a more modern home with contemporary furniture and paintings. Their warm colours and interesting designs make them an excellent compliment to many interiors.
