A Heriz carpet woven around 1900-1910 with a fantastic open design, a thin outline in pale blue creates the star medallion in the centre. An unusual and stunning design, the border design are stylised tulips motifs which we often see in Caucasian rugs from Azerbaijan. We just love the palette of natural dyes on this beautiful small size antique Heriz. The condition is very good all over with a sturdy wool pile and no stains or damage. A great small size antique carpet ideal for a study or living room.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet. A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.
We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Request a home visit to see this wonderful antique Heriz at home.
