This is a beautiful antique Heriz bag face, that has been carefully sewn onto a hessian wrapped wooden frame, which can be hung on a wall.  A really wonderful way to use these amazing antique bag faces as art for the wall.  The size of the frame is 62 cm high x 60 cm wide, and the size of the Heriz bag is 54 cm high by 50 cm wide.

Woven by the nomadic weavers in Heriz of North-West Persia, these tribal bags would have originally been used as storage bags, and would have had a kilim backing which usually gets worn away from this wool piled front of the bag.  We can still see some of the kilim at the top of the bag, which has slits where they would have looped wool ties through to close the bag, so these were practical every day items.  Rare to find these tribal bag faces from Heriz, as they generally produced rugs, carpets and runners.  Over 120 years old the dyes on these bags are still vibrant, being all natural dyes.  As the bag face has been carefully sewn onto the frame it can be removed at any point too.

Purchase this wonderful mounted antique Heriz bag face via our secure checkout and we can safely wrap it and courier it to your home.  Or please book in a home visit or showroom visit to see this wonderful wall hanging up close.

Antique Heriz rugs and carpets are know as the 'Iron rugs of Persia' as they are extremely tough being made using good quality wool in the north-west of Persia. Madder red and indigo blue dyes are the most common colours you associate with Heriz weavings.
