A very good quality Georgian mahogany Oval Butlers Tray of panelled construction.

Having original brass hinges to folding sides with pierced carrying handles housed on later mahogany square leg stand.

A great solution to the age old problem of their being no such thing as what we regard a coffee table these days in the 18th and 19th centuries.

They simply didn't make coffee tables at that height. As is the case with most of these that you will see, this butlers tray has been removed from it's original folding waist height stand and placed onto a stand of lower height to make it into an extremely useful coffee table.

This stand is nice as it has been constructed using recycled 18th/19th century timber as opposed to using brand new wood. The stand itself is probably between 50 and 100 years old.
