A magnificent antique George III silver water Jug of plain baluster form with a circular spreading foot. The jug has a cast S scroll handle ornamented with a scrolling leaf design. The spout is embellished with a vase-shaped moulding with a drop shaped form to the nadir. This superb jug is larger than is usually encountered at this early period. The jug will hold 4 UK pints (2.25 litres)- which would make it the perfect size for a large dinner party.
Maker William Grundy.
Hallmarks registered in Dec 1743, June 1748 and May 1754.
