A fine Antique French Silver Dish, 1st Standard 950 . The circular dish has two leaf shaped handles, a shaped rim and a reeded border interspersed with a cross design.The dish is amazingly heavy in weight.
The dish is engraved on both sides with the crown and sabre for the Maharaja of Baroda. This dish would be ideal as a vegetable dish or to hold fruit.The Maharajah was one of the richest men in India and his palace was the largest residence in India four times the size of Buckingham Palace!
Sayaji Rao Gaekwar III, Maharaja of Baroda (1875-1939) until acquired by, Shiri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta (1907-1993) and descent to, Mrs Charu Kishor Mehta (born 1943).
