Antique Farahan rug from Malayer region in Western Central Persia, woven around 1890-1900 in fabulous condition. A very fine weave and an accomplished weaver has produced this fine classical rug. Every thought has been taken to execute the design from the central medallion to the traditional corner designs, known as spandrels. Flowing vines with elegant flowers in the deep blue field, sandy yellow corner tones combine well with the splash of warm terracotta red in the medallion.
Pile height is excellent all over, finely woven and cut to perfection. We love antique Farahan rugs and this 120 year old example is a really wonderful piece. No damage or wear, it has been used but very well looked after. Please view all the extra images to see the quality of this antique rug up close.
