This was possibly made by a Russian POW who celebrated The British Army during the Crimean War 1835-1856. The top section depicts the Scottish thistle, the English rose and the Irish shamrock. The 2nd panel shows a crown. The 3rd panel depicts a Russian double headed eagle. The 5th panel shows an artillery canon with the French flag and the flag of the Aland Islands (now part of Finland). The 6th panel shows a roundel with the flag of the Aland Islands in the centre. The cloth pockets, possibly taken from uniforms, act as the background to the fine handmade glass beads. The whole is presented in a 19th century oak frame, glazed. Russian circa 1854
