Antique Bakshaish carpet, Persia.
This Bakshaish carpet is in wonderful pile all over with great natural dyes typical of the carpets from this region woven at the end of the 19th Century. A truly stunning carpet that has a lot of charm and with no central medallion it is very easy to decorate around and place in a drawing room. Bakshaish is a region very near to Heriz in the north-west of Persia, they tended to be softer in colour and have a geometric design of leaves and birds.
They are famous among collectors because of their vivid vegetable dyes or soft earth tones that are woven on a geometric pattern.
